Night photography courses

Got a camera gathering dust? fancy trying something a little different with expert tuition... then why not try one of our night photography courses. Courses based in York, Whitby and North Yorkshire.

Details:

Course duration of Approx. 2.5 hours, if it's raining we'll move you to another date F.O.C.

We meet in York at - Cliffords Tower steps, postcode - YO1 9SA or ///rats.papers.player (what3words)

Whitby Abbey meeting point in the car park - YO22 4JT or ///giggle.seaweed.envisage

The walkabouts include tips on setting, F stop, ISO and Shutter Speed, teaching you how they all work together to produce great night images, it's geared for everyone from the true beginners or those wanting to brush up on their skills or just even a refresher. Numbers are restricted to a max of 5 per group as anymore hinders the amount of time I get to spend with each of you.

We do a bit of walking from location to location so good footwear is essential

What you need:

  • A DSLR camera that you can put in 'M', manual mode.

  • Your widest lens if you have a few, e.g. 24, 18, 16mm etc, most come standard with a zoom 24 - 120mm or something similar which is also fine.

  • A Tripod (images like below cannot be handheld shots and is an essential requirement)

  • Warm jacket and a hat!

  • Charged camera battery.

  • Room on your SD or compact flash card for the images we'll be taking

York - one on one night photography course voucher

Another great gift experience which includes one-to-one guidance in capturing night-time images followed by expert tuition in using Lightroom to enhance your photos, create incredible effects and produce professional images. During the evening Andrew talks you through tips on settings, F stop, ISO and Shutter Speed and how these all work together to produce great night images. After the walkabout you’ll retreat to a local pub or café (or at a later date via Zoom), download some of your images from the night into Lightroom. Andrew will show you how to edit your images from start to finish, something which isn’t included on the group course. The walkabout lasts around 2.5 hours, followed by roughly an hour of processing time, plus a free drink.

After purchase you'll receive a voucher to print, booking can then be arranged by phone or email.

I went on a recent Night Photography course in York.

Really good locations and very useful advice from Andy.

I was most impressed when I uploaded the photos onto a large screen.

Highly recommended.

I booked the night time photography in York course for my husband as he is just getting into his photography and he loved it. I went along as well to watch and Andrew was a great teacher , my husband felt he learnt so much in the 2.5 hours the course lasted , there was only 4 in the group which meant everyone had some one to one tuition and was shown the best settings on their own camera for the pictures being taken. It was relaxed and such an enjoyable afternoon , thanks for having us
