Weddings
Your Investment
First of all, many congratulations on your engagement and forthcoming wedding celebrations!
Your wedding day is the start of a new chapter and your photos will give you memories for the rest of your life, so the photography/ photographer is one of the most important investments while planning your big day.
As a photographer, I try to tell a beautiful story, one that you will want to look at over and over again. People are what make weddings so special and, as much as I love all the little wedding details, my favourite part of weddings is capturing moments and emotions in a creative way.The speeches are a great example of this; I love to listen to them, the thought that has gone into them, the humour, the love.
We'll meet before your big day for a chat about your requirements, the shots you want, and the shots you don't. We'll get out for a pre-wedding shoot, normally at the venue, so you get a feel for what it will be like in-front of the camera on the day. We'll also have a good recce and work out the shots that would be good for the day. It's a great chance to build our relationship, so I am no stranger on the day.
We'll be spending a lot of time together on your wedding day, so it is important to me that you feel comfortable with me. Nobody wants a fantastic yet miserable or rude photographer that you don't feel at ease with! I like to think I'm fun, conscientious and caring. Being a father of triplets I know all about stress and stressful situations! ...but your day will not be one of them!
To keep it simple, I cover your whole day from getting ready until just after the first dance. We don't see the point in setting limits - this is about you, your day and we can't wait to spend it with you.
Hopefully by now you'll have seen that my work covers a multitude of weather and lighting situations, it's not an easy job for sure! Battling rain, harsh sunlight, low light (which is one of my passions and hopefully you'll have seen this)...
I use the best equipment (imo), fast lenses and a multitude of flashes and constant lighting equipment to ensure I have the most suitable gear for the moment at hand. I carry a second camera, ready with a different lens, to save time changing lenses, so I won't be missing that all important shot! The second camera also acts as a backup in case the worse should happen to my main camera. I have many SD/ compact flash cards - you name it, I'll probably have it. On a separate note, I am fully insured and carry all the relevant liability insurances needed by many venues; these can be produced on request from your venue.

Your wedding, your venue choice. Whether we've photographed there or not isn't is a worry. We make a point of either meeting you there for a pre wedding shoot or taking a trip to check out the venue, speak to the co-ordinator and work out the best locations, lighting, so to be sure to capture some truly magical moments.

So.. how does the day go..
Prior your big day we'll have exchanged many emails planning the day, photos you want and don't want, where and when the photos will take place and how this fits in with your venue timings, even down to timings of sunset, to make sure we plan in that all special photo.
Come the morning of the wedding, I'll head over to you at a time previously arranged. I'll begin with the 'getting ready' shots including the dress, shoes, make-up, perfume and so on. I'll be there in the background capturing natural photos, documenting those special moments. Time spent with you in the morning is also great chance to get to know family members not previously met. When you're ready for me to capture the 'getting into your dress' photo, I'll come in and capture a few delicate shots. Once ready we'll do the reveal to Dad, you never know - there may even be a few tears! hey, maybe from me too!
In-between (providing we're on-site), I'll occasionally pop off and capture details of the venue prep, decorations, cake:bits you'll miss and would never see unless documented. This provides great extra vision/ detail from the day and often is added to the album as page backdrops.
Leaving you behind, I'll head over to capture guests arriving and moments as they happen, including shots with the lads as well as details of the church or venue filled with anticipated guests.
Once you arrive, I'll get a few shots of you with your dad outside the venue/ church. Whilst you get ready, I'll get in position at the top of the aisle to get the entry shots and those of the Mr To Be, adding to the story of the day. Depending on the number of guests and if the boys/ men are in a different location, it could warrant a 2nd photographer. This is something I can arrange, so please ask me about this if you feel it would be beneficial. See the gallery below from my 2nd photographer Mike.
Mike's Gallery - second shooter, enquire for availability
Before the grand exit down the aisle, I’ll have moved into position to get several shots of the exit. Normally guests will then pass you by, form rows outside ready for your exit, followed by a showering of confetti - these exits make for some great photos. You'll then head off in your car to the venue or make your way towards your drinks reception.
This is now a good time to capture the group shots. These will be pre-determined so we know what we're doing... that's if your guests aren't at the bar. On a serious note, we'll work down from grandparents, parents etc etc, until we get to friends.
I may then get chance to capture a few shots of just the two of you before you mingle pre sit-down meal. I do like to save the YOU shots for later - when the sun starts to drop and blue hour begins, this is when I can capture the real dramatic shots - again something we would have talked about and planned.
Whilst you're eating I get to relax, change batteries, re-hydrate, eat and re-compose.
Cake cutting and first dance are captured later into the evening, and I'll hang around to get some dance floor grooving. Once happy I've captured some dancing, I'll say my good-byes and leave you to enjoy the rest of your evening as Mr and Mrs.
The next day, I like to get a sneak peek set of images posted to my Facebook, www.facebook.com/jpophotography, for you and your guest to see. Normally you will at this point have been tagged a 100 times by guests already on Facebook, so it's nice to have some of the professional images to see and share very soon after.
3 to 6 weeks later your images will be up on a private gallery for you to view, like and download. The 'liked' images are reported to me as the ones you'd like to go towards an album. You can then decide on what you'd like albumwise and I'll build a proof set of files for you to confirm before submitting to print.
The album will then be ordered! Once it arrives, it will be checked by myself before presenting it to you, something I like to do in person (but can be posted if needed).
Hopefully, when all is done you'll spread the good word and I'll begin a new chapter with a new Mr and Mrs To Be.
